1997 lagun FU110 horiz/vert milling machine - unusual
Lagun FU110 Universal horizontal mill with multi-axis vertical head, serial no. 40-443...new in 1997. Possibly the only multi-axis head ever made with a moving quill. Also, a true universal mill - table swivels left/right with degree scale. With Newall DP7 MillPac 3 axis DRO and Spherosyn scales. Integral feeds all 3 axis via internal DC drive. Backlash eliminator on X axis for climb milling. As equipped, cost over $40,000 new.
No. 40 spindle can use any style of no. 40 tooling. Currently set up with metric drawbar for BT40. But the drawbar is simply a hex cap bolt such that an inch thread bolt could easily be substituted, to use standard or CAT40 tooling.
Spindle motor is 5 hp, feed motor is 2 hp. Spindle speeds are 35 to 1800 infinitely variable (drive is similar to Bridgeport, with backgear) X/Y/Z travels are 29.5/11/18.7 inches. Feed rates are 0-50 inch/min for X and Y, and 0-15 inch/min for Z. Rapid travel is 100 inch/min X/Y. Weight is 3,750 lbs.
