Rack and Pinion Linear Actuator

Here is a longer rack and pinion linear actuator. Normally, we would take these apart for their components, but these seemed to make such excellent gantry x-axes, we couldn't bring ourselves to do it. The guides are mounted to a very sturdy aluminum extrusion that is 130 mm square (5.1" square). The guides are THK GSR20T's and they are mounted on two different sides for increased stiffness. The extrusion has 1/2" steel mounting feet on the ends as shown. These can be moved to any position along the extrusion. With some very minor adjustments, an 85" travel is attainable. The drive type is obviously rack and pinion and works extremely well. This actuator is not complete with a servo and drive like with the other units we are selling. This does, however, include the input pinion gear, belt, and all tensioning and mounting hardware for another servo or stepper motor as shown. The input pinion takes a 14mm shaft. The timing pulley is a standard 3 mm pitch and more pulleys can be ordered for different sized shafts from spd-si.com.
