Techne #MCS-104S Biological Stirrer. (Inv #7517) Four position biological stirrer uses 4 x 500ml culture vessels for unparalleled control of cell culturing conditions. Uniform suspension of cell cultures and microcarrier beads is achieved by gentle stirring action which aids attachment and promotes circulation of the medium around the cells to encourage a high growth rate. Special SOFTSTART design for controlled acceleration/deceleration of the stirrer rod to/from the selected speed eliminates cell damage. Max speed 80rpm. The variable-interval stirring feature allows "on" times between 6 seconds and 5 minutes, and "off" times between 2 minutes and 2 hours. The polished stainless steel platform houses the motor and controls. The design of the motor and its associated circuits ensure that it generates no heat, making it ideal for in-incubator use. Culture vessels are located by pips. The stirrer rods are activated by magnetic coupling from rotating magnets under the platform, driven by a long-life motor with ironless rotor.
