When it comes to tough equipment there is no substitute for heavy iron, and heavy iron built for the military is among the toughest anywhere, especially when made in America say, fifty years ago. Well, that's what we've got here... one indestructible, reliable piece of heavy iron, all 700+ pounds of it. I have owned and maintained this generator for almost 20 years and it has accumulated 470 hours providing reliable automatic standby service for my home. The only reason I am retiring it is because I recently finished the perfect, "museum piece" restoration of an identical unit (same military purchase order in 1960, same manufacturer, just 1000 newer on the serial number), swapped it and reconfigured this item for portable/transportable use by the addition of a custom fabricated heavy-duty wheel kit.
